So, you want to be a writer, huh? Well, the truth is, most people don't know what to do when they begin writing. You cannot just put ink on paper and expect to be an award-winning writer in the long-run, so here are some tips on archiving you writing career.
Have a clear vision about your book

If you're going to write a book, you should know where you are going, and just like in a conversation, you shouldn't go around in circles. I recommend you do these things before you start with that wonderful book you have in mind.
A plot
Now, what is a plot? A plot is the story-line of the story, The plot is created by the story's author, who arranges actions in a meaningful way to shape the story. Know how you story is going to play out. Sometimes you have to imagine your book as a movie, to figure out how its going to look like from the beginning to the end.
One sentence explanation
You need to write your book in a way that if i read it, and by some chance, one of my friends asks me recommend a good book to him/her, i need to be able to say your plot in one sentence. If i give him/her a speech about your book, he/she is going to think that your plot is too complicated and 'Shakespeare' like.
Eg: The story talks about a woman who after finding out she was diagnosed with cancer, tries to live her life to the fullest.
That was short and kept to the point.
Dialogue

Most Authors make this mistake when they write their book, they put out long dialogues with senseless meanings. Do not repeat their mistakes, here are some changes that you can make to avoid this.
Read your dialogue out loud and see if it is something your character would say. Or even a human would say!
Make sure your Character does not repeat him/self constantly, or keeps revolving around the same point, all in one dialogue. Get to the point!
Put Tags, because if i was a reader and i had to pause to figure out who was speaking, i would be confused. So, remember to put tags, as not to confuse your readers.
Don't include unimportant dialogue in your book like ''Hi,'' and ''How are you'' These are not important and make your book irrelevantly long and boring.
Synonyms

Learn to use powerful words, keep a dictionary next to you, or a thesaurus and use it to find synonyms of a word you think could be better. Eg: Instead of ''pretty'', use ''elegant''. It sounds more powerful and it evokes the senses.
Use all FIVE senses!

When you are writing a book, maybe fiction, you need to be able to manipulate the reader's brain through your writing; awaken all their senses. Use synonyms and be as descriptive as possible.
Try to look at it from all the angles. Here's a descriptive examples of an orange, it is round, oval looking, sunset orange, it has the shape of a baseball. Those are all very descriptive examples of an orange, the sunset orange awakens one of the senses; eyes. You start to imagine how the the colours of sunset looks like that of an orange.
Use social media to your advantage

Use social media to your advantage, don't be an INTROVERT! follow important and famous authors on social media and see how they do their stuff, study them. Ask people for advice online.
You could also join a Writing community; like wattpad. You can find lots of GREAT books there that you can read, and you can also write your own book. It basically prepares you for the actual thing, because if people like the books you publish on wattpad then you know that you are making progress!
